Stainless steel coffee mug
Coffee mugs, just like coffee carafes are terribly underrated coffee devices. If you love coffee, you gotta have at least one extra sweet coffee cup in your arsenal to get the most of it. Because, unlike what most people may think, a coffee cup is not just a coffee cup!
Sure, what kind of coffee cup you choose is a matter of taste. There is no ONE super cup that fits the best for every person in the world (although I wish there were…)! There are many factors to consider when choosing a coffee cup. There’s the size for instance. Some people might just want to have a quick 6 ounce fix in the morning and that’s it. Others may want something that’s the size of a super sized McDonalds soda cup that they can sip on throughout the day as its being kept heated in an insulated mug.
That leads us the material a coffee cup is made of. I’ve said it before on this site, and I will say it again – it has to be a stainless steel coffee mug! This is the one part of the coffee cup that is non-negotiable to me. Yeah it’s just my opinion of course, but it’s a strong opinion I have! Other than stainless steel there is of course porcelain, plastic and glass. To me they’re inferior in every way to stainless steel. Porcelain may keep your coffee warm like stainless steel, but it’s both on the inside AND outside. You can’t hold a porcelain cup without burning your hands. And stainless steel won’t break like a porcelain cup eventually will. Plastic doesn’t keep the heat nearly as well. And for some reason which I just can’t explain, the coffee just plain tastes better in stainless steel to me. I don’t know why, it’s the mystery of the coffee!
And what about carrying your coffee with you? Whether it’s around the house or from your home to work in a car, this will be a heck of a lot easier with a lid rather than pouring it into an old fashioned porcelain cup, obviously. Lots of coffee cups come with lids these days if travelling with coffee is your fancy! To me, stainless steel combined with a lid is the ultimate combo.
Honestly though, having a fancy stainless steel mug is not worth it if you’re just a casual coffee drinker who drinks the cheap stuff in the morning. You gotta really like coffee and buy some proper coffee grind to enjoy it to the max in your cup. I recommend Gevalia’s coffee as this is my personal favorite. I particularly suggest their Colombian and hazelnut coffee types which you can read more about on this site.
Gevalia’s stainless steel coffee mug

If you want to give Gevalia’s coffee a try and also happen to be in the need of a good coffee mug, check out their great offer by clicking on the coffee mug image on the right! Not only will you get a highly recommendable 14 ounce stainless steel coffee mug and your choice of two coffee boxes, you also get a drip coffee maker and a carafe, for almost nothing! All top quality stainless steel stuff, and it’s only $22.95 plus $5.95 shipping. According to them it’s a $168 value and although I can’t confirm that exactly, it’s definitely huge bang for the buck, no doubt, with the entire package costing approximately the same as most top notch coffee mugs do separately. I can’t recommend this offer enough since it gives you everything you need to enjoy high quality gourmet coffee at a terribly reasonable price.
Gevalia’s intention with the offer is the assumption that you will keep ordering their coffee in a schedule from them after you’ve received the kit. BUT, there is no obligation with this offer. If after having ordered the bundle and find yourself being one of those strange people who don’t care for Gevalia’s coffee (they do exist!), you simply cancel the service and that’s it! Since it is pretty common among some shady “companies” to scam people by luring them into giving their credit card numbers with offers like this that they then can’t (or at least have a very hard time to) get out of, it’s understandable that many are skeptical to this offer. But don’t be afraid, Gevalia is a reputable company with lots of satisfied customers. The idea of this offer being a scam can be seen being dismissed by plenty of people at Yahoo! Answers.
Besides Gevalia’s coffee mug, there are some other ones I could highly recommend, in case Gevalia’s offer isn’t your cup of coffee (haha). If you don’t mind paying approximately the same price for just a mug that does not include a coffee maker, carafe and coffee boxes, check out the other fine products below.
Thermos Nissan 14-Ounce Leak-Proof Insulated Coffee Mug

I recommend this mug since it should do the job for just about everyone. A 14 ounce coffee cup that holds the heat for an hour (and cold for even longer if that would ever be required) should be enough for all kinds of coffee lovers! Combine it with a coffee carafe that holds significantly more coffee and keeps the heat for longer periods of time, and you got yourself an unbeatable combination.
This little baby is perfect for use when driving assuming your car has the standard drink-holder of 2.75 inch diamater that most do. It will slide perfectly in there and stay there until you pick it up. And picking it up will also be a breeze considering just how light weight that cup is. What if you’re unforunate enough to suffer an unlikely drink-holder malfunction? No problem at all, because as long as you twist the stopper tight, nothing will leak!
Let’s not forget the fact that it’s stainless steel! Like I mentioned in the intro text above these product reviews, you gotta have stainless steel! In my opinion, it’s mandatory. It makes the mug pretty to look at as well as unbreakable. See the intro text for other reasons why stainless steel is so awesome if you skipped it.
But obviously I can’t help but to compare this mug to the Gevalia offer. Honestly, the Gevalia mug is almost as good if you ask me. Same size, stainless steel, keeps the heat, doesn’t leak. For only a few extra dollars, you also get the coffee maker, carafe and two boxes of gourmet coffee. The choice, my friend, is yours!
